The Monastery/School in Carrlck-on-Suir was the second foundation of Blessed Edmund Rice (1805). The establishment was generously endowed by Mr Thomas O'Brien, a wine merchant from Clonea, near Dungarvan. He had befriended Edmund Rice who had previously undertaken the alleviation of poverty and the education of poor boys in the city of Waterford, as Nano Nagle had already initiated on behalf of girls.

The Residence has been renamed Brú na Cruinne, and is a Resource Centre for Spirituality and the New Creation Story. The location has proved ideal, situated as it is in the entrancing beauty of the Suir Valley.

Cosmology is the Story of the Birth and the development of the Universe which enables us to make sense of our lives and our role in it.

We tell stories in Brú na Cruinne: the Story of the unfolding Universe, the Story of Planet Earth, the emergence of life and our own human story. The point of hearing a story is not so much to remember it as to experience it.

As we awaken to a new understanding of Reality, we deepen our interest in the beauty and mystery of Earth. We continue to explore the ongoing search for meaning within the broadest possible context, evoking a sense of Awe and Wonder, Gratitude and Compassion. These are our enduring values as we come to realize that the Universe is alive, is sacred and we are part of it.
